- ★ ★ ★ ★ ★July 09, 2020, by komoribluesIf you're buying locally, go here first. I'm an "Elite Pro" Member at gamestop as I buy a lot of video games. I'd avoid gamestop at all costs in the past, but if you buy a lot of games the 20% off on used titles is worth it if you have the patience to stakeout locating a "preowned" title from the stores as it often can cost less than buying even online on something like EBAY (particularly VITA titles and some PS4 titles). Anyway, back to the point! I've traveled around the Clovis and surrounding Fresno area to four separate gamestop locations. These guys are the most professional and personable. Some of the other store locations either have their employees try to shove business down my throat and talk EXTREMELY loud and fast or don't really know what you want as a customer. If the whole store needs to hear about recent promotions like you're their personal megaphone for other customers it's a big turn off. While other stores aren't too bad, they give you polite service but aren't necessarily aware of what's on my mind as a customer. Point is this, I like to buy games. A lot of games. I called in over the phone for a used VITA title to confirm if it had the original case or not (this is one thing I don't like about gamestop at all, they don't have original cases at times on preowned copies). It had the original case. I was also interested in buying Playstation TV as gamestop actually sells playstation TV for a good price believe it or not. I want to stream ps4 remotely to my other TV to save money by not buying a separate console by buying Playstation TV. They told me there wasn't any PSTV at the time, but if I hung around a minute a customer was trading theirs in. Funny enough, they showed up right then and there. At this time I had been settled on likely purchasing an Eilte Pro Membership, they answered my questions without trying to hoodwink me on some catch 22 or selling point. After going for Elite Pro they did a few things to really go above and beyond just "upgrading" to Elite Pro extremely helpful and made the best out of purchasing the membership. I was buying Persona 5 new, the employee was nice enough to point out I could buy a pre-owned for less. I was aware of this, but it didn't have the original case which is a deal breaker for me. Their employee remembered my call from earlier to know I don't like generic cases and they went out of the way to get me the original cover art and a new case for the title. Their Manager was also extremely helpful to my needs. Aware that I was using a VITA device in anticipation to play remotely on playstation 4 they were nice enough to point out the upgrade in streaming reliability with a network cable hard lined into the PS4. This was obvious to me after they mentioned it, but the fact THEY WERE THINKING ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMER was a big deal. Not only that, they went out of their way to see if they had any network cables around. TLDR: I went in to buy a 9 dollar pre-owned VITA game, went out with the VITA game, a Playstation TV, Elite Pro Membership, and a copy of Persona 5. Not because they "sold" me on it, but because I was ready to make these purchases but from a store that could work with me in creating the most out of it. I didn't have to buy everything separate online and wait. I went out with what I needed and some perks. These guys are good, if you talk to them with some sense they'll reply with their own to get the most out of your needs. The right way to do it, not some sully mention of pre-order exclusives and the "routine" way of handling a customer (Quite frankly, I'd rather up-selling not mentioned at all. It's a bit insulting to my intelligence as a customer). Yes, gamestop has some cons to shopping there. This rating is about the employees at this store though.
